The musical 'Caída Libre' began almost as an experiment among friends, but over time it turned into a project that grew beyond what we could have imagined, its creator, Ele Vieyra, recounted. He explained that the project started over four years ago when he first dared to write a complete musical. "I had written plays, monologues, and some other things, but it was the first time I dared to write a full musical on my own," he stated to the Argentine News Agency. According to him, the initial idea was to stage a play with friends for fun and to do what they love, however, the project took on an unexpected dimension. "In the first year, we did four shows, and all four were sold out. When I had to mark something to improve, I did it from a professional place, and that helped me grow a lot," he explained. Currently, 'Caída Libre' is performed every Thursday at 9 PM at the Abasto Concert, located at Agüero 485, opposite the Abasto Shopping. For now, the shows are scheduled until March 26, although the team is already evaluating the possibility of extending the season into April. Before each performance, the cast shares a small ritual, such as getting together, talking, and reminding each other of the importance of enjoying the moment. "No matter how many people there are or if something comes out perfect or not, the important thing is to live in the moment and enjoy that we are doing what we love," Vieyra concluded. The musical puts current issues on the table. The story of 'Caída Libre' revolves around a group of friends who seek support from each other while going through different personal conflicts and addresses issues that happen to different generations, such as depression, substance abuse, eating disorders, and family mandates. Vieyra explained that the intention is not to offer simple answers, but to make visible problems that often remain hidden. "What the play tries to do is put on the table that these things are happening to us. What is seen on stage is very real because they make the characters their own," he highlighted. Vieyra also emphasized that 'Caída Libre' does not seek to compete with the large commercial productions on Corrientes Avenue, but to offer a different perspective from independent theater. "It is not a mainstream or commercial play like those in the large theaters, from the text to the people on stage, everything points to showing real conflicts with real people," he explained. Vieyra's connection to theater began at a very young age, as he recounted, he grew up in that environment and today he also works in a children's theater production company with his mother, Verónica Vieyra. "I started from a very young age getting on stage, doing children's theater and tours. From the original cast to auditions The first season was done with friends close to the director, but as the project grew, it was necessary to call on new artists. "Each one had different schedules, some are still artists and others are not, so when the play started to grow we had to do auditions," he explained. From that process, actors and actresses linked to off-theater and the independent circuit were incorporated. "I found very talented kids who are today in independent theater. It has always been what I love most in the world," he recalled. Over time he also began to direct and write plays, on that path, he highlighted the support of his mother. "She always gave me freedom to write, direct and try."
